Shakira Nearly Attacked by a Sea Lion in South Africa

That might be a little too close for comfort!
Shakira is nursing a few scrapes and hailing her brother as a hero after he saved her from a wild sea lion attack in Cape Town, South Africa.
The singer and her sibling spied some of the aquatic mammals on a tour Sunday afternoon and decided to get a bit closer to take pictures.
"Suddenly, one of them jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me," she wrote on Facebook. "I was paralyzed by fear and couldn't move, I just kept eye contact with it while my brother 'Super Tony' jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the beast."

Shakira believes the sea lion was confused by the shiny reflection of the Blackberry she used to take pictures. "It probably thought I was teasing it with food and then taking it away from it," she said, adding that she and Tony suffered minor scratches on nearby rocks as they tried to escape. Sea lions have interacted well with humans throughout history, and attacks are rare and usually tied to territorial aggression.
Shakira wrote that just a half hour before the incident, she had hoped to get up close and personal with some wildlife. "I was complaining to my guide Andrew that I never get to see wild animals up close on adventurous trips," she said. "Oh well, I can't say that anymore!"
Despite the scare, the star's African adventure continues. "Today with the penguins!" she wrote. "Definitely friendlier!"

Shakira couldn't have looked any happier as she went for a romantic lunch with boyfriend Gerard Pique in Barcelona today.

The Colombian singer looked stunning in an all-white outfit of a vest top and floaty linen trousers, which she accessorised with a pair of tan heeled sandals and a beaming smile.

Hand-in-hand with footballer player Pique, Shakira appeared entirely content and loved-up as the pair grabbed some food in the Spanish city.

The 34-year-old singer finally confirmed her relationship with 24-year-old Pique last month when she posed a romantic picture of the couple on Twitter.

The snap shows the smiling pair in front of a beach setting with the sun beaming down on them and their arms wrapped around each other, with the simple message: 'I present to you my sunshine.'

Shakira and Pique became the focus of intense media attention earlier this month when gossip magazines published photographs of the couple holding hands and kissing in Barcelona.

Shakira announced at the start of the year that her 11-year relationship with lawyer Antonio de la Rua, 37, the eldest son of the former Argentinian premier, amid rumours that he had been cheating on her.

And in February last month, Pique , who plays for FC Barcelona, uploaded a photograph from his birthday on February 2 of himself and the Colombian singer celebrating with friends.

The singer first met Pique last spring while shooting the video to her song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) - the official track of the 2010 World Cup.

Barcelona-based newspaper El Periodico de Catalunya claimed they had a string of secret encounters following their initial meeting.

However, Shakira previously dismissed reports of a romance.

At a  press conference in Barcelona she described the claims as a 'waka-rumour' and added: 'You shouldn't take any notice of waka-rumours.'

Pique was also quick to deny that they were lovers, telling reporters last month:  'We're just friends. There's nothing more to it.'

But in February, the pair were spotted holding hands as they left a restaurant in Barcelona.

Shakira announced her split from De La Rua, son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rua, on her official website in January.
